Consultant in Palliative Medicine

About the role

Ardgowan Hospice is seeking a Consultant in Palliative Medicine to join its multidisciplinary team in Greenock. The role is 28 hours per week and offers flexible working arrangements, including the possibility of job‑share.

Key responsibilities

• Provide consultant‑level palliative care to patients and families.
• Participate in on‑call duties through an honorary NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde contract.
• Lead and develop the hospice’s palliative care service.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff and trainees.
• Contribute to service improvement and clinical governance.

Required profile

• Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or expected CCT within six months of interview.
• Eligibility via CESR or Portfolio Pathway accepted.
• Qualified doctors on the GMC Specialist Register considered for locum posts.
• Willingness to discuss permanent or locum terms of appointment.
