Commercial Manager – Alliance Programme (Te Awa Kairangi)

About the role

Fletcher Construction is looking for a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial direction of the Te Awa Kairangi alliance programme, a major transport and resilience infrastructure project in New Zealand. Reporting to the Alliance Director, you will advise senior stakeholders, shape procurement strategy and ensure financial governance across the alliance.

Key responsibilities

• Own all commercial obligations under the Project Alliance Agreement, including variations, claims, disputes, insurance and legal matters.
• Develop and maintain best‑in‑class cost control, procurement and financial systems for the alliance.
• Lead monthly claims processes, protect entitlement positions and secure full commercial recovery.
• Design and execute procurement strategy for major work packages, engage the supply chain and manage internal Fletcher agreements.
• Provide commercial and financial insight to the Alliance Management Team, Project Alliance Board and partner organisations.
• Build, lead and develop a high‑performing, multi‑disciplinary commercial team.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of senior commercial leadership experience in civil infrastructure.
• Deep experience in alliance or joint‑venture environments with a practical understanding of their operation.
• Proven ability to manage programme‑scale budgets, complex contracts and commercial risk.
• Strong procurement leadership, subcontractor strategy and supply‑chain performance background.
• Track record of building and leading high‑performing teams in high‑pressure delivery settings.
• Credibility and presence to influence at board, client and partner level.
