Commercial Knowledge & Development Lawyer

About the role

Simpson Grierson is seeking a Commercial Knowledge & Development Lawyer to join its Auckland office. This people‑focused position blends commercial law expertise with a passion for mentoring, knowledge management and the development of best‑practice resources across the firm.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑ordinate the annual training programme for the Commercial team.
• Coach and mentor junior lawyers, fostering their professional growth.
• Keep the practice group informed of law, policy changes and market developments.
• Maintain and enhance key precedents, toolkits, user guides and other client‑facing resources.
• Collaborate with Commercial authors, Learning & Development, Marketing and other teams on submissions and marketing materials.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years of commercial law experience.
• Demonstrated passion for legal education, team development or knowledge management; in‑house experience is a plus.
• Strong relationship‑building skills, confidence, sound judgement and a collaborative mindset.
• Willingness to shape the role (part‑time possible) and make a lasting impact.
