Clinical Nurse Specialist – Pasifika Health

About the role

Mercy Hospice is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist with a focus on Pasifika Health to join its palliative care team in central Auckland. This permanent, full‑time position offers the chance to lead culturally responsive care, improve service delivery for Pasifika patients and their whānau, and drive innovative projects that enhance equity.

Key responsibilities

• Project management: use clinical expertise, stakeholder feedback and data to co‑design and implement improvement initiatives for Pasifika service delivery.
• Clinical practice and care coordination: conduct advanced nursing assessments, develop care plans, deliver interventions and review outcomes for patients with complex palliative needs, ensuring culturally safe and timely care.
• Pasifika health leadership and advocacy: apply Pasifika health models and worldview to clinical practice, advocacy and service engagement to promote equity.
• Relationship management and community engagement: build trust with internal teams, community providers and Pasifika groups, identify referral pathways, service gaps and opportunities for earlier access.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with at least three years of experience in palliative care or a similar setting.
• Completion of, or enrolment in, a postgraduate nursing qualification.
• Deep understanding of Pasifika consciousness and worldview.
• Proven ability to build effective relationships across diverse communities.
• Current full New Zealand driver’s licence.
