Clinical Nurse Manager - Perioperative

About the role

A community-led hospital in Southland, established to provide free healthcare to people unable to access care through the public or private systems, is recruiting a Clinical Nurse Manager to lead its nursing team. The role works alongside the General Manager to ensure safe, effective delivery of clinical services, including perioperative services for colonoscopy and dentistry, and supports a dedicated team of healthcare volunteers. It is advertised by a staffing agency on behalf of the client.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and oversight of safe, high-quality patient care
• Coordinate day-to-day nursing operations and support efficient session and list management
• Lead, mentor and support a team of healthcare volunteers
• Support clinical governance, quality improvement and the ongoing review of policies and procedures
• Ensure clinical facilities and equipment are maintained to a safe standard
• Build capability and confidence across the nursing team
• Work closely with the General Manager to support the development of the nursing service

Required profile

• Experienced perioperative nurse and confident clinical leader
• Ideally significant postgraduate theatre and perioperative nursing experience
• Senior-level clinical nursing experience
• Proven leadership and people-management capability
• Current NZ Nursing Council Annual Practising Certificate
• Postgraduate qualification, or working towards one, desirable

Required skills

• Knowledge of quality improvement and clinical governance principles
• Strong communication, decision-making and delegation skills
• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for healthcare
