Clinical Nurse Lead – Orthopaedic Theatre

About the role

As the Clinical Nurse Lead for the Orthopaedic Theatre at Southern Cross North Harbour Hospital, you will provide hands‑on clinical leadership in a fast‑paced private surgical environment. You will work closely with medical specialists, nursing teams and hospital leadership to ensure safe, efficient and high‑quality patient care across multiple surgical specialties.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support a high‑performing theatre team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
• Oversee day‑to‑day theatre operations, including workflow, staffing skill mix and service delivery.
• Identify and implement solutions to operational and clinical challenges, ensuring compliance with quality and risk‑management standards.
• Mentor, coach and develop nursing staff, promoting professional growth and adherence to Southern Cross Healthcare values.
• Maintain strong relationships with patients, whānau, colleagues and specialist clinicians.

Required profile

• NZ Registered Nurse with a current practising certificate and surgical scope.
• Minimum of 3 years post‑registration orthopaedic theatre experience.
• Proven leadership ability with a track record of motivating and empowering clinical teams.
• Calm, professional presence and a collaborative, can‑do attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency with digital systems and ability to quickly adopt new technology.
