Chief People Officer

About the role

Wētā Workshop is seeking a Chief People Officer to lead its People & Culture team. Reporting to the CEO‑COO, you will shape the people strategy for a world‑renowned design and manufacturing studio.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive people strategy covering organisational design, talent acquisition, reward, employment relations, culture, capability development and wellbeing.
• Partner with senior leaders and the Board to provide trusted HR advice and influence strategic decisions.
• Lead change‑management initiatives, organisational redesign and transformation programmes.
• Oversee employee health, safety and wellbeing programmes while ensuring compliance with New Zealand employment law.
• Manage and develop the People & Culture team, fostering a collaborative and consultative leadership style.

Required profile

• 10+ years of senior HR/People & Culture leadership experience, including advisory work at executive and Board level.
• Deep, current knowledge of New Zealand employment law applied pragmatically.
• Proven track record of leading large‑scale change and organisational transformation.
• Strong commercial acumen to balance people outcomes with business realities.
• Excellent conflict‑resolution and relationship‑building skills.
