Branch Manager – Christchurch

About the role

We are looking for a Branch Manager to lead our Christchurch branch, ensuring safe delivery of profit and service commitments while maintaining high customer service standards. You will be responsible for matching resources to revenue, achieving budgeted profit, and building a strong, engaged team.

Key responsibilities

  • Participate in national improvement initiatives and demonstrate leadership across the Fliway Group.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality and safety through materials handling equipment and automation.
  • Maintain agreed performance levels for all customers.
  • Develop new customers in partnership with the Sales team.
  • Complete claims investigations and sign‑off missing freight reports.
  • Ensure pickups, deliveries, customer collections and operational activities follow safe work practices and actively promote health and safety.
  • Organise and facilitate regular team meetings and toolbox sessions, ensuring strong communication within the branch.
  • Assess personal development needs of key roles and individuals.
  • Build team engagement and reduce turnover through active management of branch culture.
  • Deliver budgeted profit and prepare the annual branch budget.
  • Maximise revenue through correct charging, revenue initiatives, training and ongoing billing monitoring.
  • Review and analyse weekly financial reports, validate accuracy and take corrective actions.
  • Ensure the branch meets defined KPIs.
  • Implement and monitor the performance management system at branch level.
  • Seek service, cost and operational improvements and implement agreed changes.

Required profile

  • Proven ability to lead a branch and deliver profit and service commitments safely.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, revenue maximisation and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety best practices.
  • Experience in developing new customer relationships and collaborating with sales teams.
  • Ability to build and maintain an engaged, high‑performing team and manage branch culture.
  • Skilled in analysing performance data and implementing improvement initiatives.
