Agricultural Recruitment Coordinator

About the role

Mills Recruitment is launching a dedicated Agricultural Division in Ashburton and needs a dynamic professional to build and lead its seasonal workforce operations. Reporting to the General Manager (NZ) and the Principal Recruitment Consultant – Agriculture, you will be the front‑line liaison between farmers, growers and the recruitment team.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit, interview and onboard seasonal agricultural workers.
• Develop and maintain long‑term relationships with farmers, growers, processors and rural businesses.
• Coordinate labour for crop rouging, spraying, harvesting and post‑harvest processing.
• Lead, mentor and train field crews, often working alongside them during peak periods.
• Visit client sites to plan workforce requirements and ensure service quality.
• Manage company vehicles, trailers, equipment and yard operations.
• Monitor Health & Safety compliance and quality standards across multiple sites.
• Plan and schedule daily workforce operations throughout the season.

Required profile

• Experience in agriculture, horticulture, agricultural contracting or a related rural industry.
• Proven leadership or team‑coordination experience.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with farmers and rural businesses.
• Excellent organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Hands‑on, proactive attitude with a willingness to lead from the front.
• High level of physical fitness and ability to work in field conditions.
