Whānau Support Worker – Nelson

About the role

NZCL supports people with disabilities in New Zealand through its Disability Support Services. It is looking for a Whānau Support Worker in Nelson for its Whānau Support Services, a part-time role with 28 guaranteed hours across Monday to Friday. The work is hands-on and mentoring-focused, helping clients build independence, confidence and social connections.

Key responsibilities

• Support people in their home and community to lead fulfilling lives and achieve their personal goals.
• Help clients do the things they want, such as swimming, sports, arts and crafts, movies or shopping.
• Build positive relationships with the people supported and their whānau.
• Support individuals with a range of needs to learn new skills and achieve outcomes.

Required profile

• Available to work 28 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 10:00am and 5:00pm.
• Confident working independently and able to build positive relationships with clients and their families.
• Passionate about helping others, kind, understanding and empathetic, with cultural awareness.
• Initiative, energetic and outgoing, respectful of others' ways of living.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred, including with youth.
• Full driver's licence and own vehicle are essential.
• NZ resident or citizen, or holder of a valid NZ work permit.
