Technician – Creative Technologies

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Creative Technologies Technician to join our Technical Services team. The role supports teaching, research and production across a range of screen‑based and immersive media environments, ensuring students and staff can work safely and creatively with cutting‑edge technology.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, operate and maintain systems for animation, game development, VFX, virtual production, performance capture and live events.
• Provide technical assistance for CPU‑ and GPU‑based rendering workflows.
• Support immersive technologies including AR, VR and MR installations.
• Run media‑rich live production tools such as Stype, Disguise, Unreal Engine, Touch Designer and Resolume.
• Deliver hands‑on support during classes, workshops, rehearsals and productions, including demonstrations and equipment inductions.
• Collaborate with academic staff on curriculum delivery and research projects.
• Maintain a safe, organized and efficient Creative Technologies facility.
• Interact with industry clients and external creative communities, offering high‑quality customer service.

Required profile

• A degree in Creative Technologies, Screen Production, Film, Game Design, Media Arts or equivalent industry experience.
• Proven experience with a broad range of creative production tools and on‑set departments (camera, lighting, grip, sound, broadcast).
• Ability to work across multiple platforms and adapt quickly to new technologies.

Required skills

• Maya, Unreal Engine, Unity, Z‑Brush, Houdini, Blender, Nuke, Adobe Creative Suite.
• Touch Designer, Stype, Disguise, Resolume.
• Experience with CPU/GPU rendering pipelines.
• Familiarity with AR, VR and MR systems.
• Performance capture and virtual production workflows.
