Technical Systems Assessor

About the role

Silver Fern Farms is looking for a Technical Systems Assessor to join its site-based technical compliance team at the Pacific site near Hastings. The role supports the Technical Manager in implementing and monitoring the site's Quality Systems, and provides assurance to management and external stakeholders that food safety, quality and regulatory programmes meet customer and market access requirements. The position is open 6.30am to 3.30pm with some flexibility for afternoon shiftwork.

Key responsibilities

• Complete internal technical and quality audits, track corrective actions and identify trends to support continuous improvement
• Carry out microbiological sampling to meet regulatory, customer and internal requirements
• Support HACCP monitoring, assist with sign-offs and prepare the site for regulatory and customer audits
• Assist the Technical Manager with audit responses, investigations, claims and reporting, and provide coaching and mentoring where needed

Required profile

• Relevant experience or strong knowledge of quality and compliance requirements in a modern food manufacturing environment
• Advantageous: training or qualifications in food manufacturing auditing or animal welfare, HACCP certification, and tertiary qualifications in food technology, biological sciences or microbiology
• Ideally at least Level 1 sampler in bovine NMD and/or STEC
• Resilience, integrity and determination to do the right thing
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, detail-oriented and able to build cross-departmental relationships

Required skills

• Computer literacy with Microsoft Office and mobile/desktop systems
• Food safety and quality auditing
