Technical Project Specialist – Transformer Projects

About the role
As a Technical Project Specialist at Hitachi Energy NZ Ltd., you will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of transformer projects, ensuring they meet scope, schedule, and budget targets. You will provide technical expertise throughout all project phases, supporting the company’s focus on innovation and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities
- Manage transformer projects from hand‑over to final delivery, monitoring progress and implementing corrective actions.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among cross‑functional teams, stakeholders, and external vendors.
- Prepare and present regular project status reports.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, developing mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to Hitachi’s project management methodologies, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
- Contribute to the improvement of project management processes and tools.
- Promote safe working habits and comply with health & safety policies.
- Maintain compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering.
- More than 5 years of experience in transformer manufacturing or design.
- PMP or equivalent project‑management certification.
- Strong understanding of various project‑management methodologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making abilities.
- Experience in a global or multinational corporate environment is a plus.
- Fluency in English.
