Technical Project Manager - Data Centres (FIFO/DIDO)

About the role

Turner & Townsend is recruiting experienced Technical Project Managers for its Data Centre team in Invercargill, South Island, New Zealand. The company is a leader in professional services to the data centre sector globally and is expanding its data centre business area.

Key responsibilities

• Manage complex projects and programs as the key client interface, building working relationships, solving problems and driving projects to successful completion.
• Manage the design process to meet client requirements and manage expectations.
• Review project plans and specifications, scheduling, cost-saving measures, discrepancies and potential construction problems.
• Manage project safety and environmental requirements, timelines, risks and reporting, and project budgets while advising on options to keep them on track.
• Engage with marketing and business development initiatives and coordinate vendor scope with overall project delivery.
• Draft contract documents in line with legally approved templates and work with the project team to process and manage contract documents effectively and on time.

Required profile

• Degree in Construction Management or a related field.
• Professional or tertiary qualification in project management, engineering or construction.
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of project management experience gained in a data centre or similar technical environment.
• Thorough understanding of the full project life cycle, from inception and design through authority approvals, construction completion and post-project review.
• Excellent knowledge of main project management concepts, tools and techniques.
• Able to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment and highly motivated to deliver for the client.

Required skills

• Technical understanding of data centre infrastructure: HVAC, electrical, generators, fire, security and BMS.
• Strong communication, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
