Service Technician

About the role

Reporting to the Herd Test Service Manager, you will ensure reliable operation of herd testing and animal health instrumentation through high‑quality servicing and maintenance. The role involves shift work and may require reliable transport outside public‑transport hours.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, including occasional after‑hours work.
• Service instrumentation according to maintenance programmes and quality system requirements.
• Conduct routine inspections of plant and equipment, working closely with operators and supervisors.
• Accurately record and report all servicing activities in line with laboratory procedures.
• Identify and act on non‑conformances, completing reports promptly.
• Provide technical advice, support, and guidance to operational teams.
• Support technicians across other Testlink facilities.
• Maintain compliance with all health and safety requirements.
• Manage spare parts to support forecast maintenance needs.
• Liaise daily with milk testing and animal health supervisors.
• Assist the Service Manager and Laboratory Manager to ensure smooth operations.

Required profile

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience servicing analytical and laboratory equipment.
• Ability to complete full equipment overhauls to manufacturer standards.
• Trade qualification with a tertiary engineering certificate or equivalent experience.
• Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
• Experience with preventative maintenance programmes and accurate data recording.
• Familiarity with supply and spare‑parts logistics.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively.
• Strong teamwork, collaboration and time‑management skills.
