Senior Statistical & Data Technician (Wellington/Christchurch)

About the role

Join the Complex Business & Processing Support Unit to transform raw data into valuable, decision‑ready information. You will work on financial, economic and social datasets, ensuring they are clean, classified and ready for statistical production.

Key responsibilities

• Load, edit, source, classify, validate and shape incoming data.
• Perform detailed data checking and confront data inconsistencies.
• Deliver processed data to meet tight deadlines.
• Identify and implement improvements to data‑processing workflows.
• Coach and mentor junior Statistical & Data Technicians.

Required profile

• Curious mindset with a passion for troubleshooting and process innovation.
• Experience working with financial account data or similar datasets is desirable.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to solve problems quickly.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to new information.
• Effective teamwork, communication and presentation skills in plain English.
• Commitment to continuous learning and cultural capability.
