Senior Management Accountant

About the role

Kāinga Ora is seeking an experienced Senior Management Accountant to join its award‑winning team in either Auckland or Wellington. The role supports cost‑centre managers with reporting, forecasting and budgeting across business groups and high‑profile projects, helping drive informed decision‑making for New Zealand’s housing sector.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and analyse financial reports, budgets and forecasts for multiple business units.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and government bodies to ensure accurate financial information.
• Track performance against targets and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Provide insightful commentary and recommendations to senior leaders.
• Support continuous improvement of financial processes and systems.

Required profile

• CA or CPA qualification with a relevant tertiary degree.
• At least five years of post‑qualification experience in management accounting.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, able to engage senior leaders.
• Independent, logical thinker capable of navigating complex issues.
• Commercially focused with a proactive work ethic.
