Senior ICT Systems Administrator

About the role

The Senior ICT Systems Administrator owns the stability and continuous improvement of Wellington Free Ambulance’s ICT environment. This senior engineering position leads technical decisions, sets standards across infrastructure, cloud and end‑user platforms, and acts as the escalation point for complex issues.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain technical ownership of the entire ICT landscape, ensuring reliability and performance.
• Lead design and implementation of solutions, technical standards and system optimisation.
• Provide senior‑level engineering expertise and act as the primary escalation point within the ICT team.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across infrastructure, cloud services and endpoint management.
• Resolve complex technical problems and lead problem‑management activities.

Required profile

• 5+ years of ICT experience, including at least 3 years in systems administration, infrastructure engineering or senior technical support.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft enterprise technologies (Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure AD, Microsoft 365, Exchange, Intune).
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
• Solid understanding of networking and security concepts such as switching, firewalls, VPNs.
