Senior Associate – Technology, Media and Telecommunications

About the role

Join Buddle Findlay's market‑leading TMT team in Auckland as a Senior Associate. You will advise blue‑chip private and public organisations, start‑ups, private equity, media entities and health agencies across New Zealand and the wider Asia‑Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide counsel on procurement, commercial contracting, digital development, licensing, privacy, cyber, media, entertainment, marketing and content acquisition.
• Collaborate with the corporate M&A team on technology and telecommunications transactions, delivering specialist input.
• Take ownership of matters, mentor junior lawyers and contribute to business development initiatives.

Required profile

• 8+ years of TMT‑focused legal experience in a law firm or in‑house setting.
• Admission as a solicitor in New Zealand, Australia, the UK or a comparable common‑law jurisdiction and willingness to relocate.
• Strong collaborative approach, client‑relationship skills and a desire to grow a specialist profile.

Required skills

• Experience advising on technology procurement and commercial contracts.
• Knowledge of privacy, data protection and cyber law.
