Senior Advisor – Enterprise Communications

About the role

The Senior Advisor, Enterprise Communications will lead the planning and delivery of high‑quality internal and external communications for complex, nationwide transport programmes. Working within NZ Transport Agency’s Enterprise Communications team, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, shaping clear narratives that connect people to the agency’s outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic communication plans for enterprise‑wide projects.
• Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders on messaging, media relations and stakeholder engagement.
• Craft compelling stories and narratives that highlight the impact of transport initiatives.
• Identify and leverage appropriate communication channels, tools and techniques for diverse audiences.
• Collaborate across matrixed teams to ensure consistent messaging and coordinated delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering strategic communications and engagement at a senior advisory level.
• Strong writing and editing ability, capable of simplifying complex information.
• Experience acting as a trusted advisor to senior internal stakeholders.
• Sound knowledge of internal and external communication channels and tools.
• Ability to work confidently in fast‑paced, high‑profile, issue‑sensitive environments.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• Willingness to build understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga, Te Reo Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Tertiary qualification in communications or a related discipline.
