About the role
BDO is seeking an Intermediate Risk Assurance & Consulting professional to join its growing Risk Advisory team in New Zealand. This position is ideal for candidates with 1‑2 years of audit, risk, or consulting experience who want to expand into advisory work and engage with a diverse portfolio of clients.
Key responsibilities
- Support and deliver risk assurance, internal audit and consulting engagements across multiple industries.
- Assess internal controls, governance frameworks and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with process reviews and control‑improvement initiatives.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify key business risks.
- Help design and implement pragmatic risk‑management solutions.
- Prepare clear, client‑ready reports and presentations for senior stakeholders.
- Communicate findings and recommendations in a practical manner.
- Collaborate effectively within project teams to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
Required profile
- 1‑2 years of experience in professional services (audit, risk, assurance, or consulting).
- Exposure to internal or external audit, risk management, or controls environments.
- Working towards or intending to pursue CAANZ, CIMA, CIIA, or equivalent qualification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Well‑organised with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ownership and accountability for delivering quality work.
- Curious mindset with a willingness to learn and grow.
- Willingness to travel locally and occasionally internationally.
