Registered Nurse – Auckland South Corrections Facility

About the role
Join the healthcare team at Auckland South Corrections Facility, delivering equitable, mana‑centred care to people in custody. This permanent full‑time role focuses on culturally responsive nursing practice, supporting Māori, Pacific and diverse communities.
Key responsibilities
- Uphold and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in everyday nursing practice.
- Provide care that protects and enhances the mana and dignity of people in custody.
- Incorporate Māori health models, such as Te Whare Tapa Whā, into care planning.
- Deliver trauma‑informed, culturally safe care recognizing intergenerational and social health impacts.
- Partner with whānau, iwi and health providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Advocate for equitable health outcomes across the inmate population.
Required profile
- Current registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and a valid Annual Practising Certificate.
- Minimum 2 years post‑registration experience in primary health, acute, or emergency care.
- Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, kaupapa Māori practice and cultural safety.
- Commitment to working with Māori and diverse populations.
- Ability to build trust through respectful communication and relationship‑building.
