About the role
Join ABB's R&D Centre of Excellence in Napier and help shape the future of energy. You will work on products ranging from UPS to battery storage and static frequency converters, contributing to real impact in the power industry.
Key responsibilities
- Define product test requirements and conduct electrical/electronic testing, including high‑power systems.
- Prototype and develop hardware test rigs while ensuring safety compliance.
- Apply reliability engineering principles and international standards (CE & UL) to product testing.
- Automate testing processes and produce clear, high‑quality reports to support product development.
Required profile
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualification (industrial electrician, technician diploma, trade certification).
- Previous exposure to 3‑phase systems and experience with UPS, energy storage, variable speed drives or PLCs.
- Knowledge of international product safety standards (CE & UL) and reliability engineering practices.
- Strong problem‑solving and debugging skills in a laboratory environment.
