Public Relations Specialist

About the role

Payper, a fast‑growing PR firm, is looking for a highly motivated Public Relations Specialist to join the founding team. Working directly with the co‑founders, you will help shape client strategies, drive media coverage, and embed AI‑powered efficiencies across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Pitch and secure media coverage for client brands.
• Own client accounts, nurture relationships, and act as the primary point of contact.
• Write and edit press releases, pitches, blog posts, proposals, and reports.
• Lead teammates and contractors, ensuring high‑quality output.
• Present strategies and results to clients in meetings and on‑camera briefings.
• Implement AI tools, automations, and workflow improvements.
• Network, socialize, and generate new business opportunities.

Required profile

• Journalistic mindset – ideally current or former journalist.
• Heavy, effective use of AI tools in daily work.
• Exceptional presentation skills, both live and on‑camera.
• Meticulous attention to detail – zero typos, broken links, or incorrect dates.
• Strong network of trusted journalists.
• Dislike for jargon, bureaucracy, and unnecessary process.
• Friendly, collaborative personality and Auckland‑based (four days onsite).
• Problem‑solver who proposes solutions and constantly seeks smarter ways to work.

What we offer

• Competitive salary ranging from $80,000 to $120,000 NZD per year, based on experience.
