Principal Enterprise Architect – Retail

About the role

IAG is seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect to lead the technology vision for its retail insurance business across Australia and New Zealand. This senior role sits at the intersection of business strategy and technology transformation, shaping the architecture roadmap that underpins growth, innovation and exceptional customer experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the target‑state architecture for integration and channel enablement across IAG’s ecosystem.
• Own the architecture roadmap, ensuring scalable, coherent connectivity between internal and external platforms.
• Shape and evolve the enterprise API strategy, including governance, lifecycle management and API‑first design.
• Lead cross‑channel thinking to guarantee seamless integration across customer, partner and broker platforms.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, modernise and optimise integration and channel architectures.
• Partner with business stakeholders, solution architects and delivery teams to translate strategy into concrete outcomes.
• Influence enterprise‑wide decisions to build a reusable, scalable connectivity layer.

Required profile

• Significant experience in enterprise architecture with deep expertise in integration architecture, API strategy or channel platforms.
• Proven ability to define architecture strategies and roadmaps and deliver them at scale.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, capable of influencing across multiple portfolios and ecosystems.
• Balance of strategic thinking and hands‑on problem solving in ambiguous environments.
• Relevant tertiary qualification; Enterprise Architecture certification (e.g., TOGAF) is advantageous.
