Primary Teacher (12-Month Fixed Term)

About the role

ACG Strathallan, a South Auckland independent school offering education from Preschool to Year 13 with Cambridge International, is hiring a Primary Teacher for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The post starts on Monday 18 January for the 2027 school year. The school is located in Karaka on 15 hectares and offers a holistic experience with modern facilities in a natural setting.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences for primary students.
• Support children's transition into school through nurturing, responsive teaching.
• Build foundations in early literacy, numeracy and inquiry-based learning.
• Differentiate learning programmes to meet individual student needs, strengths and interests.
• Monitor, assess and report on student progress to inform next steps in learning.
• Create a safe, inclusive and positive classroom environment that promotes wellbeing and belonging.
• Foster confidence, independence, positive behaviour and social development.
• Build strong partnerships with parents and caregivers.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to Junior School initiatives and professional learning.

Required profile

• NZ teacher registration with supporting teaching qualifications (BA and/or MBA).
• Experience teaching primary year levels.
• Strong understanding of child development and transition-to-school practices.
• Excellent classroom management, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students and families.
• Understanding of inclusive, culturally responsive teaching and support for diverse learning needs.
