Platform Support Engineer (Marine Shipboard Maintenance)

About the role

Join Babcock’s Platform Support Team as a Platform Support Engineer, providing critical technical support to the Royal New Zealand Navy under the Commercial Management of Ships in Maintenance (CMSM) contract. You will work on‑site in Devonport, Auckland, ensuring safe systems of work and responding to shipboard emergencies while contributing to national defence readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver and maintain essential platform services for naval vessels.
• Manage Safe Systems of Work and conduct regular safety audits.
• Respond to onboard incidents such as fire, flood and rescue operations.
• Provide on‑call support and lead minor improvement projects.
• Mentor junior staff and promote a strong health‑and‑safety culture.

Required profile

• Seasoned marine engineer with 2–5 years of leadership experience in maritime environments.
• Proven ability to operate under high‑pressure situations and make independent decisions.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Willingness to maintain an NZSIS security clearance.
