People Business Partner – Auckland

About the role

GHD is looking for an experienced People Business Partner to join its New Zealand Pacific business in Auckland. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, shaping people strategies that drive business performance and foster a high‑performing, inclusive culture.

Key responsibilities

• Partner strategically with business leaders, coaching and challenging them to lead their people effectively.
• Lead change‑management initiatives, helping employees navigate organisational evolution.
• Drive projects that improve HR processes and systems.
• Support performance, culture, wellbeing and engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Talent team to execute NZ talent strategies and growth plans.
• Manage employee‑relations matters, ensuring compliance with NZ employment law and company values.
• Identify and mitigate risks, providing early, fair, and consistent solutions.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement projects aligned with business strategy.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Commerce or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of relevant HR/ER experience in complex environments.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and proven application.
• Demonstrated ability to lead employee‑relations matters with discretion.
• Commercial acumen with the ability to balance people outcomes and business priorities.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.
• High integrity, confidentiality and professionalism.
• Proactive, self‑driven and capable of managing competing priorities.
• Experience supporting leaders through organisational change and growth.
