Part-Time Support Worker - New Plymouth

About the role

NZCL supports people with disabilities in New Zealand through its Disability Support Services. It is looking for permanent part-time Support Workers for its New Plymouth Residential Services, covering leave when other Support Workers are away. The role is flexible, with rostering flexibility and work across different locations in the New Plymouth area.

Key responsibilities

• Support people with various aspects of daily life so they can do the things they want to do, such as going swimming.
• Provide personal care, support with meals and household management tasks.
• Teach life skills.
• Work shifts or specific rosters providing 24/7 support, with the potential of additional sleepover payments in some rosters.

Required profile

• Passionate about helping others, kind and understanding.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred, including with disabilities and challenging behaviour.
• Full driver's licence is essential.
• Initiative, energy and respect for others' ways of living.
• Flexibility to work overnight shifts across a roster, including weekends.
• Empathy, respect and cultural awareness; applicants must be a New Zealand resident/citizen or hold a valid NZ work permit.
