Paediatric Registrar & SHO Positions 2027‑2028 – Wellington Region

About the role

Permanent Paediatric Registrar and Senior House Officer (SHO) positions are available for the 2027‑2028 Resident Medical Officer (RMO) year across Wellington Regional, Kenepuru and Hutt Valley Hospitals. The roles are fully accredited for Paediatric Basic and Advanced Training for the FRACP and are designed for doctors seeking comprehensive paediatric experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality general paediatric care and participate in NICU rotations.
• Undertake sub‑specialty rotations in Neonatology, Paediatric Oncology/Endocrinology, Child Psychiatry and Child Development.
• Complete a community paediatric rotation at the Ministry of Health (optional for advanced trainees).
• Engage in formal and informal teaching sessions for junior RMO staff.
• Adhere to run descriptions and accreditation requirements while rotating six‑monthly across designated hospitals.

Required profile

• Resident Medical Officer eligible for FRACP Paediatric training.
• Willingness to rotate across multiple hospitals in the Wellington region.
• Commitment to register as a trainee with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
• Ability to work full‑time on an onsite basis.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
• Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Neonatal resuscitation skills.
