About the role
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides autonomous clinical leadership and advanced primary or specialist care across primary care, community and hospital settings in New Zealand. This active‑pooling position supports equitable health outcomes and may lead to future employment.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct holistic physical and psychosocial assessments, diagnose, order and interpret tests, and prescribe treatments within NCNZ scope.
- Manage chronic, acute and complex multi‑morbid conditions, and coordinate referrals to secondary/tertiary care.
- Embed Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles to deliver culturally safe, whānau‑centred care.
- Provide clinical advice, lead quality‑improvement projects, and mentor nursing staff and NP interns.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Nursing (or equivalent NCNZ‑approved NP pathway) and current NCNZ registration with prescribing rights.
- Minimum 4 years of advanced clinical practice in a relevant specialty and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
Required skills
- Proficiency with patient management systems such as Medtech and Indici.
- Strong clinical diagnostic reasoning and pharmacology knowledge.
