Nurse Educator – Special Care Baby Unit

About the role
Health New Zealand is seeking a passionate Nurse Educator to support the Special Care Baby Units (SCBU) at North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals. This permanent, full‑time position focuses on advancing neonatal nursing education, coaching, and professional development within a dynamic acute and elective environment.
Key responsibilities
- Design, deliver and evaluate educational programmes for SCBU nursing staff.
- Provide one‑to‑one coaching and mentorship to junior nurses.
- Develop innovative teaching resources and simulation scenarios.
- Collaborate with clinical leaders to identify learning needs and align training with service goals.
- Monitor and report on the impact of education initiatives on patient care quality.
Required profile
- Current registration as a Nurse in New Zealand.
- Demonstrated experience in neonatal nursing, preferably within a Special Care Baby Unit.
- Strong independent work ethic and solution‑focused mindset.
- Commitment to cultural safety and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
