Network Support Technician – Level 1 (On‑Demand)

About the role

We are looking for a Network Support Technician Level 1 to join our team on an on‑demand basis in Auckland. You will provide first‑line support for our enterprise network infrastructure, handling connectivity issues and assisting end‑users.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor network infrastructure and respond to alerts and incidents.
• Troubleshoot basic LAN, WAN, Wi‑Fi and VPN connectivity problems.
• Provide first‑level support for routers, switches, access points and firewalls.
• Configure and support network devices under senior engineer guidance.
• Perform cable patching, port activation and basic network installations.
• Create, update and manage incident tickets in the ticketing system.
• Escalate complex issues to Level 2/Level 3 teams.
• Assist with user onboarding, network access requests and permissions.
• Support network documentation and asset‑management activities.
• Carry out routine health checks and maintenance tasks.

Required profile

• Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
• 1–3 years of experience in network or IT infrastructure support.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and follow senior engineer guidance.

Required skills

• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Subnetting.
• LAN, WAN and Wireless networking concepts.
• Experience with Cisco, HPE Aruba, Juniper or Meraki equipment.
• Familiarity with Windows operating systems and Active Directory.
• Use of ticketing tools such as ServiceNow, Jira or ManageEngine.
• Knowledge of network monitoring tools (advantageous).
