Maintenance Technician

About the role

Join NZ Post’s East Tamaki depot as a Maintenance Technician, supporting cutting‑edge automated parcel and letter sorting equipment. You will work in a fast‑moving environment, troubleshooting faults, performing planned maintenance and helping keep the network running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults on sorting machinery.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and report recurring issues.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to implement improvements.
• Work a 4‑week rotational roster covering day, afternoon, night and weekend shifts.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience as an electrical or mechanical technician, maintenance engineer, electrician or service technician.
• Calm, logical problem‑solver who can work under pressure.
• Positive, flexible attitude with a commitment to safety and quality.

Required skills

• Current New Zealand Electrical Registration or Electrical Service Technician Registration (papers A & B).
• Mechanical Engineering qualification (or equivalent).
• Experience with control systems or programming is desirable.
