Joiner – Christchurch

About the role

A recruitment agency is offering a joiner position in Christchurch, working Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm (start and finish times may vary). The pay is $28-$40 per hour depending on skill set and assignment, with a permanent-to-permanent opportunity depending on the candidate. Up to $1,200 sign-up bonus for NZ-based applicants.

Key responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and work orders.
• Measure, mark, cut, shape and machine timber and timber-based materials using hand tools, power tools and woodworking machinery.
• Manufacture, assemble and repair timber joinery products.
• Fit and install hardware such as hinges, locks, handles, drawer runners and glazing components.
• Sand, finish and prepare joinery products for painting, staining or polishing, and install them on site where required.

Required profile

• At least two years of relevant joinery experience, or a NZQF Level 4 qualification in joinery or an equivalent overseas qualification.
• Ability to pass a drug test and criminal record check.
• Good communication skills and physical fitness.
• Own transportation and right to work in New Zealand (work visa holders considered).

Required skills

• Proficiency with joinery hand tools and power tools; basic tools preferably owned by the applicant.
