Investigative Journalist (Remote, Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Investigative Journalist to join our editorial team on a remote, contract basis. You will research, pitch, and produce in‑depth stories that inform and engage a diverse audience while working independently within a flexible 10‑40 hour weekly commitment.

Key responsibilities

• Research, pitch, and develop original news stories, features, and investigative articles.
• Conduct interviews, gather firsthand insights, and verify facts using authoritative sources.
• Write clear, compelling, and accurate content tailored to varied audiences.
• Edit and proofread articles to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to editorial standards.
• Collaborate with editors, designers, and fellow journalists to enhance overall content quality.
• Monitor current events, trends, and issues relevant to assigned beats.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a journalist with a strong portfolio of published work.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to conduct interviews and synthesize complex information.
• Self‑motivated, able to meet tight deadlines while working remotely.
• High curiosity, initiative, and critical thinking.
• Solid understanding of media law, ethics, and best practices.
