Intermediate Software Engineer (Full Stack)

About the role

Westpac is looking for a passionate Software Engineer to help design, develop, and maintain digital experiences for frontline services and products. You will work across both front‑end and back‑end technologies, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality software solutions for branch and contact‑centre applications.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in code reviews and promote code quality.
• Follow software engineering best practices and Agile processes.
• Analyse requirements and assist in technical solution design.
• Develop new product features with a focus on quality and reliability.
• Deliver sprint commitments on time and maintain documentation throughout the SDLC.
• Support POCs, research activities, and production incident resolution.
• Contribute to shift‑left testing, automation, and observability.
• Collaborate on API and component design under guidance from senior engineers.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of commercial full‑stack development experience, primarily with Java.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively within a team.
• Passion for best practices and writing high‑quality code.
