HR Business Partner – People & Culture (6‑Month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The People & Culture Business Partner will provide proactive HR advice and support to OceanaGold’s Waihi operation. Based on Waihi Beach, the role is focused on delivering HR services that align with the company’s strategic goals during a six‑month fixed‑term assignment.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret employment legislation, regulations and agreements to give accurate HR guidance.
• Develop and contribute to best‑practice HR policies, strategies and frameworks.
• Assist in negotiating collective agreements, identifying options and cost implications.
• Provide coaching and advice on performance management, conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
• Oversee employee injury case management and health‑and‑safety processes.
• Partner with Talent Acquisition to assess staffing needs and support onboarding.
• Support employee induction, orientation and professional development programmes.
• Build and maintain relationships to retain a high‑performance workforce through engagement and communication.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in HR generalist or business partner roles.
• Strong knowledge of employment legislation and industrial relations.
• Proven ability to advise managers on performance, disciplinary and change‑management issues.
• Experience working with collective bargaining and employee injury case processes.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to foster collaboration across the organisation.
