Housing Navigator - Hamilton

About the role

Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa is a national provider of mental health, addiction, disability, offender rehabilitation, wellbeing and housing services. As a Housing Navigator in its Housing Services, you will support people and their families to access safe, stable housing and the services they need, such as the Ministry of Social Development, health providers and education support. Three positions are available, all Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with people and their families
• Help people identify and achieve their goals, including securing and sustaining accommodation
• Complete assessments, support plans and advocacy letters
• Work with internal teams and external community agencies to achieve good outcomes
• Connect people with services and resources that strengthen independence and wellbeing

The roles cover two programmes: Sustaining Tenancies, which helps households retain their tenancies and avoid homelessness; and Emergency Housing, either at Old Farm Road (12 standalone houses) or Seddon Complex (26 townhouse units, fixed term until 25 June 2027).

Required profile

• Experience working with community agencies and service providers to support families
• Ability to build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds
• Sound assessment, problem-solving and advocacy skills
• Full New Zealand driver licence and legal working rights in New Zealand
• Current First Aid certificate (including CPR), or willingness to obtain one

• Strong written and verbal communication
• Intermediate computer literacy and confidence with digital systems
