Engagement Advisor

About the role
Join Hutt City Council as an Engagement Advisor on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will help bring the new Te Whiringa Engagement Framework to life, ensuring community voices shape the city’s future.
Key responsibilities
- Support the implementation of Te Whiringa and its action plan across the organisation.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Provide advice, guidance and hands‑on support to raise engagement capability.
- Develop and deliver engagement tools, training and continuous‑improvement initiatives.
- Ensure engagement activities align with best practice, policy and community expectations.
Required profile
- Proven experience in community engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong relationship‑building and collaboration abilities.
- Comfort working on multiple tasks, priorities and teams.
- Interest or experience using digital and AI‑enabled tools.
- Understanding of Te Ao Māori and ability to work in a Te Tiriti‑based environment.
