Emergency Medicine Registrar (non‑training)

About the role

Timaru Hospital is looking for two motivated Emergency Medicine Registrars (non‑training) to join its busy Emergency Department. You will work alongside senior consultants, gaining hands‑on experience with a wide range of acute presentations in a supportive provincial hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality clinical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Collaborate with consultants, RMOs, nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams.
• Take on increasing clinical responsibility appropriate to your experience.
• Participate in weekly teaching sessions, case discussions and service‑improvement activities.
• Contribute positively to a supportive team culture focused on excellent patient care.

Required profile

• Strong, broad‑based clinical skills and sound clinical judgement.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Enthusiasm, adaptability and willingness to assume clinical responsibility.
• Genuine interest in ongoing learning and professional development.
