Director of Human Resources

About the role

The JW Marriott Auckland is seeking a senior HR leader to join its Executive Committee. Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Human Resources will shape HR strategy, champion culture, and ensure compliance with Marriott standards and New Zealand law.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the hotel’s business objectives.
• Partner with the General Manager and senior leaders on organisational planning and employer branding.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, retention, leadership development and succession planning.
• Provide expert guidance on employee relations, conflict resolution and legal compliance.
• Manage compensation, benefits and recognition programmes to ensure market competitiveness and internal equity.
• Champion Marriott learning and development frameworks and drive continuous improvement in associate capability.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Director of HR or senior HR leader on an Executive Committee in a luxury hotel.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand employment law.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead change.
• Experience within Marriott International or another global hospitality brand is highly desirable.
