Data Engineer – Consultant

About the role
Fusion5 is seeking a hands‑on Data Engineer to join its New Zealand Data & Analytics team. You will design, build and deliver modern data platforms for leading organisations across Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, working with Microsoft Fabric, Azure and Databricks.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement end‑to‑end data pipelines, lakehouse/medallion architectures and data warehouses.
- Develop Power BI reports and semantic models where required.
- Apply best‑fit tools for each client, ensuring data quality, security and governance.
- Support data migration projects, including CRM and ERP data moves.
- Provide post‑go‑live support alongside the Managed Services team.
- Leverage AI to improve delivery speed and quality.
- Contribute to team standards, reusable assets and mentor junior members.
Required profile
- 3–6 years of solid data engineering experience.
- Proven ability to own delivery workstreams with limited supervision.
- Hands‑on experience with modern data stack technologies.
