Data Analyst – Modernise Economic Statistics

About the role

Stats NZ is seeking Data Analysts to help modernise core economic statistics. You will work on streamlining processes, integrating data across systems and applying automation and AI to produce high‑quality statistical products that inform government, iwi, businesses and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the production and evolution of high‑quality statistical products.
• Analyse data across core releases, identify trends and shape insights for future decisions.
• Ensure outputs are accurate, robust and embed quality into processes.
• Design and embed sustainable, efficient ways of working across multiple data sources and systems.
• Develop and apply forward‑looking methods, tools and standards for modern statistical production.
• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate processes, including emerging AI tools.
• Support capability building by sharing expertise and improving work practices.
