Cryptanalytic Computer Scientist

About the role

We are looking for a Cryptanalytic Computer Scientist to lead advanced analysis of signals‑intelligence data. The role combines big‑data processing, geospatial analytics and cryptologic research to develop innovative security solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse technical signals‑intelligence data (PROFORMA, ELINT, FISINT) using Python and Jupyter Notebook.
• Handle large‑scale datasets with PySpark and perform geospatial data processing.
• Develop and contribute to Python packages, including data‑visualisation and machine‑learning libraries.
• Design, implement and evaluate new cryptographic and cryptanalytic algorithms using mathematical and statistical methods.
• Apply algorithmic techniques to identify vulnerabilities, detect threats and create counter‑measures.
• Translate research outcomes into practical tools for forensics, attack attribution, network protection and system penetration testing.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related field with at least one programming course and four upper‑level mathematics courses (calculus or higher).
• Master’s degree with ≥ 3 years, Bachelor’s with ≥ 5 years, or Associate’s with ≥ 7 years of relevant experience (military experience counts 1.25×).
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work on complex cryptologic and security problems.

Required skills

• Python programming (including Jupyter Notebook).
• Big‑data tools: PySpark.
• Geospatial data analysis.
• Data‑visualisation and Machine‑Learning libraries (e.g., matplotlib, scikit‑learn, TensorFlow).
• Cryptography and cryptanalysis techniques.
• Statistical and mathematical modelling.
• Computer security concepts: vulnerability assessment, threat detection, forensics.
• Familiarity with signals‑intelligence domains such as PROFORMA, ELINT and FISINT.
