Contracts Lead

About the role

The Contracts Lead will drive the delivery of city‑shaping projects by overseeing all contract activities and partnering closely with the Procurement team. This senior, on‑site position is based in Napier Central and offers a strategic leadership opportunity within local government.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end contract lifecycle for major municipal projects.
• Collaborate with Procurement to ensure commercial outcomes align with community goals.
• Develop and enforce contract governance, risk management and compliance standards.
• Provide expert advice to project teams on contractual obligations and performance.
• Monitor contract performance, resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading contracts, procurement or commercial delivery.
• Strong understanding of public‑sector procurement frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Leadership experience in a government or large‑scale project environment.
