Consultant Haematologist – Wellington Regional Hospital

About the role

We are seeking a Consultant Haematologist to provide comprehensive specialist care across malignant and non‑malignant haematology services in the Wellington region. Candidates with expertise or a strong interest in Bone Marrow Transplantation are especially encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and manage patients referred to the Wellington Blood and Cancer Haematology Service.
• Lead clinical activities in outpatient clinics, inpatient wards and laboratory oversight.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and senior leaders to ensure coordinated, patient‑centred care.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement, clinical governance and teaching initiatives.
• Participate in stem cell transplantation programmes, CAR‑T therapy trials, plasma‑exchange services and haemostasis/thrombosis management.

Required profile

• Qualified haematologist with experience in both malignant and non‑malignant haematology.
• Demonstrated interest or experience in bone marrow transplantation.
• Ability to provide senior clinical leadership and work collaboratively across multiple hospitals.
• Commitment to high‑quality, patient‑centred care and continuous service improvement.
