Communications Advisor

About the role

Kaipara District Council is seeking a part‑time Communications Advisor to join its team until 30 June 2027. Working from Mangawhai or Dargaville with flexible home‑working options, you will help shape clear, confident messaging that supports council initiatives and keeps the community informed.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare media releases and support responses to media enquiries.
• Develop and deliver communication plans, content and campaigns.
• Create and manage digital content for the council website and social media channels.
• Monitor media coverage and identify issues that could affect the organisation.

Required profile

• Calm, clear communicator with strong attention to detail.
• Able to translate complex information into accessible content.
• Comfortable working with elected members and senior leadership.
• Adaptable to a fast‑paced environment and diverse audiences.

Required skills

• Photo and video production skills.
• Proficiency with digital communication platforms and tools.
• Media monitoring capabilities.
