Clinical Nurse Lead

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Lead provides clinical leadership, guidance and support to the Care Centre team at Summerset’s Whanganui village. Reporting to the Care Centre Manager, the role ensures safe, high‑quality care for residents and acts as a liaison with external health professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day clinical direction and leadership to the Care Centre team.
• Support the Care Centre Manager in maintaining safe operations.
• Participate actively in Summerset’s quality management programme.
• Consult with residents and their advocates to set shared expectations of care.
• Serve as clinical liaison for primary care teams, pharmacists, podiatrists, physiotherapists, dietitians and specialist services.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a current NZNC practising certificate.
• Achieved PDRP level 2‑4.
• Extensive experience in the aged‑care sector and familiarity with Te Whatu Ora standards.
• Strong commitment to coaching, mentoring and positive team influence.

Required skills

• Computer literacy.
• Proficiency with clinical care systems.
