About the role
The Bishop of Dunedin is seeking a visionary Anglican priest to serve as City Dean of Invercargill. This full‑time, stipendiary position begins in January 2027 and will lead a collaborative cluster of three self‑supporting parishes: Holy Trinity, St John’s and All Saints’.
Key responsibilities
- Guide the three parishes in developing outward‑facing ministries and new outreach initiatives.
- Coordinate and support collaborative ministry across the cluster, fostering shared growth.
- Preach and preside at services within the parishes as part of the worship team.
- Oversee a collaborative pastoral care model using lay ministry teams.
- Partner with the Diocesan Ministry Educator to equip and teach lay ministers.
- Engage with the wider Invercargill community and ecumenical networks.
Required profile
- Ordained priest in good standing within the Anglican Communion, eligible for licensing in New Zealand.
- Deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ, committed to prayer and biblical life.
- Respect for Tikanga Māori and openness to using Te Reo in liturgy.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities, with a collaborative mindset.
- Enthusiasm for youth engagement, cultural diversity, and innovative ministry approaches.
Required skills
- Leadership and team‑building within a multi‑parish context.
- Ability to facilitate lay‑minister training and development.
- Effective communication with diverse community groups.
